What is it?
The 2014 Gay Games Champions Program is the grassroots marketing outreach team for the entire world – volunteer members champion the Games on behalf of their city team (or establishing a city/geographic team) or their particular sport or cultural event.
As a Champion, you are vital to how the Games communicate, celebrate and promote the mission of Participation, Inclusion and Personal Best™, specifically for the 2014 Gay Games in Cleveland+Akron, Ohio, United States. Champions are the FIRST LINE of tactical reach, informing and engaging participants in your respective area.
How does it work?
We encourage partners of the Federation of Gay Games, representatives from city- or other geographic-based teams, individuals representing a particular sport or cultural event, and advocates for a particular sporting or other organization with a similar interest to become 2014 Gay Games Champions.
Among the opportunities to get involved:
- Identify and connect the Games to individuals whom you think will want to participate and support the 2014 Games
- Act as a local or event representative, recruiting volunteers to organize and operate specific Games-focused promotional activities (registration parties, speaking engagements, etc.)
- Communicate promotional opportunities and work with Games staff to review such opportunities and execute as appropriate.
What are City Champions?
City Champions represent cities or similar geographic area, and reach out to LGBT sports teams and organizations, chambers of commerce, LGBT community centers, Pride organizations, art & cultural organizations and any individual or organization that can support the 2014 Gay Games.
What are Sports and Culture Champions?
Sports and Culture Champions represent one of the 35 sports and 3 cultural events being planned for the Games. You reach out to players, leagues and events related to your particular event to encourage their participation in the Games. Multiple Champions are needed for each sports and culture event.
Games week is about more than sport with spectacular ceremonies, Festival Village, parties and more. Let's show the world. Now is the time. GO ALL OUT. If you are interested in volunteering at the Gay Games, learn more here.
