Class
2014 Gay Games will offer the following levels of competition:
- Beginner: White, Yellow or Orange belt; under 1 year of experience
- Intermediate: Green, Blue or Purple belt; between 1 and 2 years of experience
- Advanced: Red or Brown belt; between 2 and 4 years of experience
- Black Belt: Over 4 years of experience
“Experience” means continuous practice.
Participation
Forms and Self Defense Competitions are organized by divisions according to rank, age, and gender.
Self Defense:
- Set 1 (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Black Belt)
- Straight punch to the face…… Front double wrist grab
- Grab on the wrist from behind…… Rear double wrist grab
- Knife attack from the front…… hair pull
- Set 2 (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)
- Club/escrima attack from the front…… front choke
- Kick to the groin…… back choke
- Defender supine, attacker on their knees between the defenders legs and attempting to strangle the defender …… punch to face
- Set 3 (Black Belt only)
- Defender seated on a chair, attacker attempts a punch to the face……knife attack/overhead strike
- Gun to the head from the front……knife attack/uppercut
- Defense against two attackers, attacks are optional, but must be simultaneous……club attack/overhead strike
The Free Sparring competition is organized by divisions according to rank, age, gender and weight.
A color belt may enter four competitive divisions: forms (1), weapons form, free sparring, and self defense.
A black belt may enter six competitive divisions: forms (2), weapons form, musical form, free sparring, and self defense.
Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in all categories and divisions.
Rules
The International Association of Gay and Lesbian Martial Artists (IAGLMA) is a member of the Federation of Gay Games. The event will use the International Association of Gay and Lesbian Martial Artists (IAGLMA) Official Tournament Rules and Procedures and Operations Plan. The rules can be found at www.iaglma.org.
