Transportation: 
METRO RTA Akron
Take the Akron-Cleveland Shuttle to City Centre Hotel (20 W. Mill Street, Akron). Walk one block east to Main Street, turn right and walk two blocks south to the Akron Civic Theatre for registration (182 S. Main, Akron). Buses returning to Cleveland also serve City Centre Hotel.

Packet Pick-Up

Wednesday, August 13: Cleveland Convention Center 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Friday, August 15: John S. Knight Center (Akron) Noon - 5 p.m.

Venue        

Start and finish line will be in downtown Akron.

The start will be at the Akron Civic Theatre located at 182 S. Main Street, Akron, OH 44308 

The finisher festival will be located at Lock 3 Park at 200 S. Main Street, Akron,  OH 44308

Each event has men’s and women’s divisions further broken down into age categories. The best three times in each gender’s age group will receive a medal.  A participant’s age group is determined by that person’s age as of the first day of competition, Sunday, 9 August 2014.  

The age groups are as follows:

18-29 30-34 35-39 40-44
45-49 50-54 55-59 60-64
65-69 70-74 75-79 80-84
85-89 90-94 95-99 100+

Participation

Participants in the Marathon and Half Marathon will receive a bib with a B-Tag timing chip. Bib colors and numbers will be differentiated to designate Marathon and Half Marathon participants.

*Note:  Participants registering for the Marathon and Half Marathon are eligible to compete in the 5K and 10K Road Races without paying an additional fee when they complete their event registrations. Select this option when you register. Please refer to the Road Races page for further detail.

Rules

A participant may compete only in the Marathon or Half Marathon and only in one age division.

The Marathon must be completed within six hours and the Half Marathon within 3.5 hours.

Marathon runners must reach split with a time of 3:15 to continue the race.

The 2014 Gay Games Marathon and Half Marathon will travel through the streets of downtown Akron. The course is a loop style course and is certified by USA Track & Field. The Marathon and Half Marathon will start at the marquee of the historical Akron Civic Theatre located at 182 S. Main Street, Akron, OH 44308. Runners will enjoy a post-race Finisher Festival at Lock 3 Park located 200 S. Main Street, Akron, OH 44308 to include food vendors, official Gay Games 9 merchandise sales, entertainment and more!
