Ride the E-Line Trolley to the stop on the south side of Euclid Avenue at East 21st Street. Cross the street to the north side of Euclid Avenue. Walk east on Euclid Avenue to East 24th Street, then turn right. Busbey Natatorium is behind Fenn Tower.
Or ride the HealthLine to the East 24th Street Station in the median. Use a crosswalk to reach the north side of Euclid Avenue. Walk down east 24th Street to Busbey Natatorium, located behind Fenn Tower.

Transportation

Cleveland State University’s Busbey Natatorium is located 1.5 miles (2.4km) east of Cleveland’s downtown Public Square. Using public transportation from downtown Cleveland, take the Health Line from Public Square (the Euclid Avenue and Ontario Street Station) to the Euclid Avenue and East 24th Street Station. The Busbey Natatorium is located north of Euclid Avenue in the CSU Recreation Center/Physical Education Complex.

Parking: Use parking garage (fee) on the east side of the Recreation Center

Events and Divisions

Individual Events for both men’s and women’s divisions will consist of:

Freestyle 50 M 100 M 200 M 400 M 800 M 1,500 M
Backstroke 50 M 100 M 200 M

Each individual event will have age groups within the men’s and women’s divisions. The three best times in each gender division’s age group will receive a medal. A person’s age is the age of the person as of 31 December 2014. The age groups are as follows:

18-24 25-29 30-34 35-39 40-44 45-49
50-54 55-59 60-64 65-69 70-74 75-79
80-84 85-89 90-94 95-99 100+  

Team Relays for men’s women’s and mixed divisions will consist of

Each team relay will have classes based on the total of the ages of each team member as of 31 December 2014. The three best times of each class will receive a medal. The age classes are as follows:

Participation

Each Participant must be a valid 2014 member of US Masters Swimming or the international equivalent organization from the participant’s home country. Membership in the U.S. Masters Swimming does not require qualification. To obtain a 2014 USMS Registration Number, go to www.usms.org/reg and click on "Join/Renew - Individual." Follow the instructions. You may join as an unattached member, which means you will become a member of USMS but will not on a team that can swim on relays.

If you plan to swim on relays, you must belong to a registered team. You may join your local masters swim team. Or you may join the USMS Gay Games Team which is called "GG9." You may swim on relays with anyone who is on your registered team.

2014 Gay Games will use a standard long course (50-meter length) for competition.

Each Participant may register for up to 5 individual events and 3 relays.

Each Participant must report with registration his/her expected time for each event, in the following format: MM:SS.00

Rules

The competition will be conducted under the rules for Masters of the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) and following the recommendations of International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics (IGLA) and US Masters Swimming.

Relay Event teams must confirm their participation and submit the names of the competitors, dates of birth, License Numbers, and the order of swimming no later than 6:00 p.m. (18.00 hrs) on the day prior to the event. The Relay Submission Worksheet may be found here.

Mixed relay teams must consist of 2 men and 2 women.

One heat (no trials, no finals), grouping starts, heats by age and reporting time, electronic time clock, single start rule.

The 2014 Gay Games presented by the Cleveland Foundation will host the following swimming schedule. Specific times will be posted closer to the Games once registrations have been finalized.

Warm-up goes from 8 a.m.- 9:15 a.m.

Cleveland State University, Robert F. Busbey Natatorium - 2451 Euclid Ave. - Cleveland, OH 44115

The Busbey Natatorium is a world-renowned competitive pool, with a history of hosting national and international competitions, including the NCAA Division I Swimming Championships, United States Masters Championships, and AAU and YMCA Championships. It has been the practice facility of the 1976 and 1984 United States Swim Teams.

The pool is 50 meters in length and 25 yards wide, with depths of between 12 feet (3.7m) and 16 feet (4.9m). The pool seats 1,500 spectators, and adjacent to the main pool is a warm-up 25-yard pool.
