Transportation:
Private Shuttle
Ride the Shuttle Bus from the Cleveland Marriott (Downtown at Key Center) to Kendall Cliffs. The Shuttle bus leaves the Cleveland Marriott at 8:15 a.m. The return shuttle leaves Kendall Cliffs at 4:30 p.m.

Participation:

Competitors may register for climbing, bouldering, or both.

Schedule:

Climbing and Bouldering

Both the climbing and bouldering competitions will be point based systems. Points will be awarded for each successfully completed climb without falling. The amount of points awarded for each successful climb will be relative to the difficulty of the route. Additional points will be awarded for successful first attempts. Competitors with the highest scores in each division will be invited to participate in the final events.

Monday, August 11
10:00 am - 11:00 am:  Welcome/Competition Introduction/Warm up
11:00 am - 4:00 pm : General Climbing/Bouldering* 

Tuesday, August 12 
10:00 am - 1:00 pm : General Climbing/Bouldering*
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm: Climbing and Bouldering Finals 

* Participants need not be in attendance for the entire duration of these time periods. Participants with the highest points in each division at the end of the General Climbing/Bouldering sessions will be invited to participate in the finals. 

Rules:

Both the climbing and bouldering competitions will be point based systems. Additional points will be awarded for successful first attempts. Competitors with the highest scores in each division will be invited to participate in the final events.

Divisions:

The following divisions will be created for the climbing and bouldering competitions. Separate divisions will be created for men and women. The table below provides general guidelines for each level based upon common rating systems. Competitors should use the grading scale based upon the highest grade climb successfully completed.

*Advanced competitors in the climbing competition should be comfortable leading sport routes.

The Games has the right to combine two or more of these categories based on the number of registered climbers or to change an individual’s division based upon performance.

Kendall Cliffs Climbing Gym - 60 Kendall Park Rd. - Peninsula, Ohio 44264

Kendall Cliffs is a professionally-designed and built rock gym with a combination of textured plywood and “natural” rock surfaces. The gym has over 7,000 square feet of climbing surface including a bouldering cave. The most unique feature of the facility is a 35-foot high arch traversing the span of the building.  With additional improvements scheduled for 2014, Kendall Cliffs is the perfect location for the Gay Games climbing and bouldering competition.

Rt.8 South to the Rt. 303 exit. Continue South on Akron-Cleveland road ½ mile to the yellow caution light (Kendall Park Rd.) Turn right on Kendall Park Rd. Appalachian Outfitters is 50-yards down on the left-hand side.

From the South:

Rt.8 North the Rt. 303 exit. Turn left on to Rt.303 and proceed to the first stop light. Turn left on to Akron-Cleveland road and proceed ½ mile to the yellow caution light (Kendall Park Rd.) Turn right on Kendall Park Rd. Appalachian Outfitters is 50-yards down on the left-hand side.

From the East (Hudson, Streetsboro, Kent):

Rt. 303 West to Akron-Cleveland Rd. Turn left on to Akron-Cleveland road and proceed ½ mile to the yellow caution light (Kendall Park Rd.) Turn right on Kendall Park Rd. Appalachian Outfitters is 50-yards down on the left-hand side.

From the West (Hinkley, Medina, Peninsula):

Rt. 303 east to Akron-Cleveland Rd. Turn right on to Akron-Cleveland road and proceed ½ mile to the yellow caution light (Kendall Park Rd.) Turn right on Kendall Park Rd. Appalachian Outfitters is 50-yards down on the left-hand side.
