Divisions

Women’s Men’s/Mixed

Division 2 Recreational (7-a-side)

Participation

Each 11-a-side team must have a minimum of 11 players and a maximum of 18 players.
Each 7-a-side team must have a minimum of 7 players and a maximum of 13 players.

Each team may have up to 3 non-playing coaches.

The Gay Games 9 soccer/football tournament is also the 2014 IGLFA World Championships XXI, with players from around the world participating in this tournament. 

Teams registering for Men's/Mixed divisions may have men and/or women players on the team. Teams registering for Women's divisions may have only women players on the team. 

All clubs must be current members of the IGLFA effective the new calendar year of 1 January 2014 - 31 December 2014, are paid in full to Gay Games and must be in good standing.

Participants may compete on only one team.

Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each gender’s division.

All teams must be current members of the IGLFA in the year of the tournament.  Further information can be obtained from writing to jpobrien@iol.ie. All clubs must be current "Premium Members" of the IGLFA ($100). All referees must be current "Referee Members" of the IGLFA ($15).

Qualifying matches will be in a Round-Robin format, where each team will play each of the other teams in its preliminary group.

The tournament rounds will be single-elimination.

Rules

The Soccer tournament will be played in accordance with the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and in combination with the Tournament rules of the International Gay and Lesbian Football Association (IGLFA).

Playing time for all matches will consist of two equal halves, with each half being a minimum of 30 minutes for 11-a-side and 20 minutes for 7-a-side, with a five minute half time. Playoff matches may include additional time and must determine a winner.
