Raise Your Hand

It's time to Raise Your Hand

Performers are invited to apply to perform during the world’s largest sporting event that is open to all—the 2014 Gay Games presented by the Cleveland Foundation, 9-16 August.

Organizers seek musicians, comedians, DJs and other talented entertainers to be part of the Opening Ceremony, Festival Village, Closing Ceremony and other events planned throughout Northeast Ohio during the Gay Games. Performers from Northeast Ohio, as well as from across the United States and around the world, are encouraged to apply.

An estimated 10,000 participants and another 20,000 visitors are expected to join in the celebration of sport and culture from throughout the United States and more than 50 countries.

Entertainers will have the opportunity to perform in front of thousands of attendees at venues including Quicken Loans Arena (Opening Ceremony), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum (Closing Ceremony), Mall C (a public park hosting Festival Village) in Cleveland and Lock 3 in Akron.

Interested? Performer application can be downloaded by clicking here. The original deadline was January 31 but performers are still encouraged to submit applications. Evaluations will continue until all slots and opportunities are complete. Please email completed form to tpike@GG9CLE.com.

Entertainers who are selected to perform will be contacted by April 1.

PLEASE REVIEW THESE TERMS CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION (also available on application form).

GENERAL

Performers are selected based on their benefit to the mission of the 2014 Gay Games presented by the Cleveland Foundation or providing a variety of artists and performers. Please keep in mind that the Gay Games is an event for all ages.

The Festival Village will take place RAIN or SHINE.

LOAD IN AND LOAD OUT

If your application to perform at the Gay Games is accepted, you will be sent detailed information specific to your performance time and location. Please follow these instructions carefully, and get any questions answered as soon as possible, so that you are clear on when and where you are expected to be.

REQUIREMENTS

• No performance that may present a danger to the public will be accepted.

• Any performance not appropriate for all ages must be clearly described and indicated on your application. This may affect when and where you are scheduled to perform, or you may be asked to make some changes.

• Due to a tight schedule on each stage, please be aware that if you arrive late, have any technical difficulties or begin late or delay your performance for any other reason, your set time will be cut short, and you will still need to finish your performance at the scheduled time.

STAGE INFORMATION

Performers will have 30-minute to 1-hour time slots. A sound system and sound person will be on site for each stage. The sound person will be responsible for everything from simple sound checks to volume control.

DEADLINE & FEES/DONATIONS

The evaluation process begins February 1 but the committee will continue to review new applications submitted until all slots and opportunities have been filled. Notification is expected by April 1 on your acceptance status.

We will do our best to accommodate any fee you may require to perform; however, please be aware that Gay Games 9 is a non-profit organization, and the Gay Games 9 is paid through sponsorships and donations.

We ask that all of our performers be flexible in working with us to negotiate fees or donate their tax-deductible performance to the organization as an alternative.
