Federation of Gay Games

Federation of Gay Games

The Federation of Gay Games perpetuates the quadrennial Gay Games and safeguards its founding principles of Participation, Inclusion, and Personal Best™. The Federation of Gay Games is primarily an all-volunteer organization made up of individuals and organizations representing four continents.

The Federation consists of a board of directors and an assembly of organizations. Board members generally come from one of the organizations in the assembly.

Assembly organizations govern single and/or multiple sport or cultural disciplines. They can be local, national or international in scope. The member organizations are more than a list of groups that support the Gay Games — their delegates are actively involved in the Federation's work and decision-making. All are dedicated to ensuring the continuation of the Gay Games' 30 year history of inspiration and achievement.

Ambassadors

The Ambassadors are an international group of prominent individuals supporting the goals and principles of the quadrennial Gay Games. They represent a broad range of achievement in sports, the arts, business and government. Each in his or her own way has been a trail blazer, using celebrity and activism to speak out for the LGBT populace. Now, they are working hand in hand with the Federation to promote the values of the Gay Games Movement.

The Gay Games Ambassadors program was begun in 2002 in support of Sydney's Gay Games VI. The four charter Ambassadors all had close, existing ties to the Gay Games. They included Tom Bianchi, Bruce Hayes, Judith Light and former United States Ambassador to Luxembourg James Hormel. Since then, more than a dozen others have joined them.
